This workshop offers participants an experience of a trauma-informed educational model for training art therapy students that can also be integrated into art therapy practice. Participants will engage in personal art making and experience a group ritual space that honours personal healing and griefwork as an integral part of building resiliency both for the individual and community.


Millie Cumming is an instructor and supervisor at the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute in Nelson, BC. She is a trauma-informed therapist with experience working with women in the anti-violence sector, children and youth and end of life care. She integrates a mindfulness approach to art therapy and body psychotherapy.


Jessica Winnicki is an addictions counselor and art therapist residing in Winnipeg, MB. Jess graduated from KATI in May 2019. She currently works in the addictions field from a trauma-informed, positive art therapy perspective with a focus on spirituality and healing.
